How to get Started
ebXML is a modular suite of specifications for standardizing
XML globally in order to facilitate trade between organizations regardless of
size.
The specifications give businesses standard business contents
and infrastructure.
Implementing ebXML can be proceeded following two main
approaches relating to the:
-
business contents
developed by UN/CEFACT (core components and business process models),
-
infrastructure
developed by OASIS (messaging, registry/repository, implementation and
collaborative partners).
Business contents
This approach is
followed during the specification of Business Message Payloads.
The specifications will
be provided in the Unified Modeling Language (UML) following the UN/CEFACT
Modeling Methodology (UMM).
Using the
Business Process
Specification
Schema
will allow business
to define their Business Processes
in a uniform and consistent manner.
The
goal is to provide the bridge between e-business process modelling and
specification of e-business software components.
Implementing the
Core Component Specification will allow business to use
a methodology for developing a common set of semantic building blocks that
represents the general types of business data in use today and provides for the
creation of new business vocabularies and restructuring of existing business
vocabularies.
Infrastructure
This approach is followed
when specifying ebXML-based business collaboration infrastructure. Due to their
modularity one or more ebXML recommendations are implemented in tools proposed
by
software vendors or system integrators,
Industry groups or government bodies
integrated or plan to
integrate the ebXML specifications in future releases.
-
Messaging service
specification: Protocol enabling the secure and reliable exchange of messages
between two parties;
-
Implementation,
Interoperability and Conformance: Means for creating infrastructure and
applications which adhere to the ebXML specifications and are able to
interoperate;
-
Registry/Repository:
Specifications to achieve interoperable registries and repositories, with an
interface that enables submission, query and retrieval on the contents of the
registry and repository;
-
Collaboration-Protocol
Profile and Agreement Specification: CPP defines one business partner's
technical capabilities to engage in electronic business collaborations with
other partners by exchanging electronic messages. A CPA documents the technical
agreement between two (or more) partners to engage in electronic business
collaboration.
