OASIS is a not-for-profit, global consortium that drives the development, convergence and adoption of e-business standards.

Members themselves set the OASIS technical agenda, using a lightweight, open process expressly designed to promote industry consensus and unite disparate efforts.

OASIS produces worldwide standards for security, Web services, XML conformance, business transactions, electronic publishing, topic maps and interoperability within and between marketplaces.

The role of OASIS in relation with ebXML is to develop the ebXML technology specifications. 

OASIS:

• is structured in Technical Committees for developing the specifications (see Structure tab),

• dedicated the work on ebXML to special Technical Committees (see Committees tab),

• defined an approval process for validating the specifications issued by the technical Committees (see Process tab).
